IHCL STRENGTHENS ITS PRESENCE IN CHENNAI, SIGNS TWO HOTELS IN THE CITY

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, today announced the signing of a Vivanta and a Ginger hotel in Mahindra World City (MWC), Chennai. These greenfield projects will be developed on a 3-acre land parcel near the Kolavai Lake, in the heart of the integrated business city.

These signings are in line with our strategy of expanding our presence into emerging micro-markets of key metros. The 100-key Vivanta MWC will offer elegantly designed rooms and suites, an all-day diner and a specialty restaurant featuring a bar. A state-of-the-art wellness center with a gym and swimming pool, along with a versatile banquet space, will cater to both business and leisure travelers. Following its signature lean luxe philosophy, Ginger MWC will feature 200 contemporary rooms with a vibrant all-day dining cum bar and modern amenities like a gym and meeting facilities.

With the addition of these hotels, IHCL will have a presence of 22 hotels with 6 under development in Tamil Nadu.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, today announced the signing of a new hotel in Puducherry. This Greenfield project will be branded a Vivanta.

The 85-key hotel will feature an all-day diner, a bar, a gym as well as treatment rooms for its wellness offering. IHCL Announces A New Vivanta Hotel In Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, today announced the signing of a new Vivanta hotel in Madhya Pradesh’s ancient pilgrim city of Ujjain. The hotel is a Greenfield project.

IHCL Announces The Signing Of A Seleqtions Hotel In Surat, Gujarat

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, today announced the signing of a hotel in Surat, Gujarat. The Greenfield project will be branded an IHCL- SeleQtions hotel.  

Commenting on the signing, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President - Real Estate & Development, IHCL said, “This signing is aligned to IHCL’s vision to be present in key commercial cities across India. Surat is one of the major industrial hubs in the country. The recent upgrade of the Surat Airport to international status and its expansion will further boost the city’s economic growth. The 175-key hotel is strategically located on upscale Dumas Road, a comfortable drive from the airport and key business districts. The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, reported its consolidated financials for the fourth quarter and full ending March 31st, 2023.

Commenting on the FY23 performance, Mr. Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO, IHCL, said, “IHCL achieved a record setting year with a number of significant accomplishments including the highest ever full year consolidated revenue, an all-time high and industry leading EBITDA margin and PAT of over INR 1,000 crores a historic first for the company. This performance was enabled by consecutive four quarters ofsustained high demand, additionally bolstered by IHCL demonstrating RevPAR leadership across its brandscape in all its key markets.

IHCL crossed 260+ hotels in its portfolio including 36 signings at a rate of 3 hotels a month and 16 openings or a new hotel every three weeks in the year. IHCL’s vast footprint now covers 31 States and Union Territories in India. We were also able to achieve an optimal 50:50 mix between our owned/leased and managed hotels.”

With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have 21 hotels across brands in Rajasthan including eight under development

The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) announced the signing of Gorbandh Palace in Jaisalmer. The hotel will be converted into an IHCL SeleQtions hotel post comprehensive renovations. This hotel is in partnership with Historic Resort Hotels (HRH).

Commenting on the occasion, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL, said, “With the signing of this hotel, IHCL is stepping into another strategic location in Rajasthan. We will now complete the important tourist circuit of Jaipur-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer. We thank Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar for having reposed his trust in us for the third hotel in this partnership.”

The 83-key hotel is located in the heart of Jaisalmer, close to major tourist attractions. The yellow sandstone heritage hotel will have an all-day diner, bar, recreational facilities including a spa, a banquet hall and gardens for social and business gatherings. The hotel will shut down and undergo a complete renovation before it is launched under the SeleQtions brand in the second quarter of 2023.

Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, CMD, HRH, said, “This is the 50th year of our very special relationship with IHCL, which commenced with Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur in 1971 and continued with Taj Fateh Prakash Palace, Udaipur. We strengthen our relationship with Gorbandh Palace, Jaisalmer. I am very confident that the company will enhance the tourism potential of Jaisalmer.”

Nicknamed ‘The Golden city’, Jaisalmer in the Thar desert, stands on a ridge and is crowned by the ancient Jaisalmer Fort. Many of the houses and temples of the fort and the town below are built of finely sculptured sandstone, which gives it a golden colour.

IHCL reports Q1 revenue from operations at INR 345 cr; losses at INR 301.5 cr

IHCL reported revenue from operations of INR 344.55 crore for the quarter ended June this year, up from INR 144 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal. On a quarter on quarter basis though, it reported a 44 per cent fall in revenues.

It reported losses of INR 301.5 crore down from INR 313 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, losses were up by 102 per cent.

IHCL said business for the quarter was severely impacted on account of the second wave and the chain witnessed softer revenues due to partial or complete lockdowns in several states of India.



IHCL expands its presence in the East with Ambuja Neotia

Indian Hotels Company, (IHCL) has announced the signing of three Taj hotels – two in Kolkata, West Bengal and one in Patna, Bihar. These new hotels are in partnership with Ambuja Neotia Group, who have already partnered with IHCL for two other hotels in the East – Taj Chia Kutir, Darjeeling, West Bengal and Taj Guras Kutir in Gangtok, Sikkim.

Commenting on the signing, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL, said, “We are very committed to the Eastern part of India as we believe that it has tremendous potential. With the announcement today, we are further strengthening our footprint in the region and building on IHCL’s legacy in some of the most commercially and culturally important cities of the East. The Taj hotel at Ambuja City Centre, Kolkata is strategically located in close proximity of the airport and the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, one of the largest convention centres in South Asia. The hotel, with 147 keys, has been in operation for over 10 years and is slated to undergo extensive refurbishments before it re-opens as a Taj hotel in 2021.

The Taj hotel at Eco Park, located in New Town, is a 57-room hotel overlooking Eco Park’s 112-acre water body. The resort hotel with state-of-the-art banqueting and convention facilities spread across 50,000 sq. ft. is slated to open in 2021.

IHCL, AB InBev launch first 7Rivers Brewpub in Bengaluru

Anheuser Busch Inbev (Ab InBev) and Tata-owned Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) have jointly opened their first microbrewery, 7Rivers Brewing Co, at the Taj property in Bengaluru, after a delay of six months due to Covid-19 led disruption that led to shuttering of bars till it reopened in September.

The microbrewery was in the making since the fourth quarter of last fiscal and original plan was to launch it in peak summer season which overlapped with the nationwide lockdown. Now, the world’s biggest brewer and country’s largest hospitality chain are banking on this pre-pandemic project to revive sales as both sectors have been hit hard amid travel curbs and negligible socializing.

Kartikeya Sharma, president-South Asia at AB InBev said, “People are sick and tired of being at home and drinking beer by themselves or virtually with friends. As government is easing the lockdown and more consumers aching to go out again, it was the right time to open up the venue.” Instead of selling draught versions of existing bottled beer brands, AB Inbev will brew new styles of craft beer at the brewpub.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), South Asia's largest hospitality company, today announced the signing of a SeleQtions hotel in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra. This hotel is in partnership with Thriving Hotels Private Limited.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), South Asia’s largest hospitality company, announced the launch of Qmin. A repertoire of culinary experiences commencing with delivering dishes from your favorite restaurants in the comfort of your homes will be the first phase of the Qmin launch.

IHCL exceeds 1 million meals offered to healthcare providers and migrant workers

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) announced that it had crossed the milestone of over 1 million meals distributed to healthcare providers and migrant workers affected by the spread of COVID-19 in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Agra.

The initiative which began on March 23 has been spearheaded by the Taj Public Service Welfare Trust (TPSWT), with majority of the meals being prepared by its airline catering company TajSATS.

Puneet Chhatwal, MD and CEO at IHC  said the milestone of 1 million meals distributed over the last 36 days of lockdown is a testament of the community’s trust in the company.

"We are grateful to have been given this opportunity to assist the medical fraternity, who make sacrifices every day to keep our country and citizens safe and help migrant workers who are facing one of the biggest humanitarian crises ever."

Through its programme, IHCL has partnered with BMC in Mumbai to offer over 3,30,000 meals to the medical fraternity at seven key hospitals/COVID-19 centres. In Bangalore, the company has provided over 9,500 meals to staff at Victoria Hospital and Epidemic Diseases Hospital in partnership with the Taj West End. While in New Delhi, IHCL has served over 85,000 meals to eight hospitals.

Since March 31, 2020, in partnership with Tata Son's - TPSWT has also provided over 5,75,000 meals to migrant workers in Mumbai
