JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge signals growth in the continent as the global hospitality leader enters the luxury safari segment

Marriott International, Inc. today announced it has signed an agreement with Baraka Lodges LTD. to enter the safari segment in Africa. JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge will be located within the Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s most renowned wildlife conservation and wilderness regions. Offering discerning travellers an unparalleled setting, the elegant retreat expects to welcome guests in 2023.

Overlooking the famed banks of the River Talek and on the edge of the reserve, JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge’s prime location will offer guests a distinctively elevated camp from which to discover the Masai Mara National Reserve, its stunning vistas, abundant wildlife, and endless plains. Plans for the new-build lodge feature 20 private tents, including one presidential canvas-topped pavilion and two interconnecting canopied suites, ideal for families, each with a private terrace overlooking the river. Shared spaces will include a restaurant, lounge bar, spa, and a large outdoor terrace with fire pits that will play host to traditional Masai dance performances in the evening. The untamed landscape will offer guests the opportunity to observe the “Big Five” that Masai Mara is home to: lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinoceros and elephants. Between June and September, the reserve is also host to the annual great wildebeest migration, when more than 10 million animals travel a distance of 1,800 miles from the Serengeti in neighbouring Tanzania.

Conservation of the land and its inhabitants will be at the heart of JW Marriott Masai Mara. The safari lodge aims to employ up to 50 locals from the Masai community, and will offer robust learning opportunities for guests looking to immersive themselves in the destination.

Warm touches of neutrals and natural materials, will lend to a warm ambience, while a earth tone colour palette promises to sit in harmony with the landscape, inviting guests to connect with nature and focus on their wellbeing.

Signum Hotels has signed the properties with Punjab-based real estate service provider, Ambika Group. The new hotels are being developed across tricity and will be branded as Signum Cityscapes. These hotels are expected to be operational within this year, in 2022.

The Fern Hotels & Resorts to open six new properties by June 22

The Fern Hotels & Resorts, India’s leading environmentally sensitive hotel chain will be opening six more hotels in the first half of the calendar year, taking the tally to 88 operational properties across 70 locations by June 2022, the CEO of the company, Suhail Kannampilly said.

The company will be opening two more hotels in Gujarat which will further expand its footprint to 24 properties in the State, Suhail said. One of the resorts in Jamboghoda, Gujarat is spread across 6 acres of land and will have 108 rooms.

 

Similarly, two new hotels will be opened in Maharashtra, one in Navi Mumbai with 76 keys and another in Lonavala, with 24 villa rooms. Besides, the other two hotels will be in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, and another luxurious tent resort in the Union Territory of Diu with 90 rooms. Altogether the company will be adding 393 keys in the first half of the year which will take the overall key count to over 5100.

 

Informing the expansion of the Fern Hotels during the past few months he said, “Despite the terrible second wave which impacted the hospitality industry very badly, we still opened new hotels in Pune, Haridwar and Hubballi.”

Expressing his optimism about the business growth for the hospitality industry in the ensuing financial year he said, “we hope that the worst of the covid is behind us and we are expecting improved occupancies and ARRs”.

New Opening | Minor Hotels Announces New NH Collection Property in Qatar to Open in Mid-2022

We are pleased to announce the signing of an upcoming addition to Minor Hotels’ portfolio in Qatar. NH Collection Doha Oasis Hotel & Beach Club is in the later stages of development and is slated to open in mid-2022. The property will be the first NH Collection property globally with a beach club.

The new 300-key hotel is located in the Ras Abu Abboud area along Doha’s eastern coast, midway between the city center and Hamad International Airport, and has a rich history. The previous Oasis Hotel, from where the new property takes its name, was in the same location and was Doha’s first-ever hotel when it opened in the 1950s.

After its Middle East launch and growth, lifestyle brand Cloud 7 enters Europe

UAE: February, 2022: After its Middle East launch, Cloud7 - a lifestyle brand in the portfolio of Kerten Hospitality, a responsible mixed-use lifestyle operator, is entering Europe with a boutique hotel in the centre of Rome. The Cloud7 Hotel Rome is an innovative community-centric project that will provide authentic Roman lifestyle and collaborations to be set in immersive communal spaces. 


The group is collaborating in the conversion of a multi-generational building in the city centre, located between Via del Corso and Via di Pietra, a few steps from the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon – the crossroads with the city’s key historical landmarks. 

Built in the early 20th century, the building – which over the years has also housed Banco di Roma – is geared to enter a new historical phase, through an international partnership and an innovative business model. The goal is to create a fully sustainable lifestyle boutique hotel in the heart of the capital, equipped not only to protect the environment and the historical context but to also focus on the reduction of water and energy consumption. The lifestyle destination aims to become a Hub for interaction between the local community, guests and employees. 

The partnership with the Santucci family – now in the third generation, the historic owner of the property, will support a complete redevelopment of the building, according to modern criteria for innovation, eco-sustainability and design, in line with the most advanced international standards which Kerten Hospitality has been applying for years across all its projects. 

Through its exclusive look and feel, Cloud7 Hotel Rome will offer services designed not only for rest and accommodation but also for an experience of the Roman lifestyle within the context of artistic collaborations and cultural and entrepreneurial engagements with the local community

Sasan Gir Villa signs franchise agreement for Ramada by Wyndham Sasan Gir

Ahmedabad-based Sasan Gir Villa LLP, a hotel and development company based, announces the signing of a franchise agreement with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts for a newly built 225 key hotel in Sasan Gir under the Ramada by Wyndham brand.
