Agra, December 2022 : DoubleTree by Hilton Agra ushered in the celebration of Christmas with its Christmas tree lighting ceremony with luminaries, guests and business partners from the city. 


The Christmas Tree at DoubleTree by Hilton Agra is unique which carries collection of local artefacts which is completely hand made. The tree has been made in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Tourism who helped the hotel connect with about 150 antigens from financially challenged backgrounds despite of the amazing talent and art they have. These families have lived on these handicrafts for generations and that’s how the skill is passed upon.

To spread cheer and welcome the season of joy, the culinary experts at the hotel has also built a larger-than-life Gingerbread house and set the table with Christmas delights ranging from stollen bread, plum cakes to varieties of festive cookies and mulled wine.


The event kicked off with carols sung by a very talented band of little kids followed by the welcome speech from the General Manager Shyam Kumar to the tree lighting. Soon after Santa Claus entered with a bag filled with chocolates and gifts which excited the bunch of children. Gourmet Christmas feasting was curated by the Executive Chef Ameet Rane and his team for the event, displaying an array of delicacies for high-tea.

Wedding season sees demand for banquet halls jump by 68% and that for jewellers by 43%: Justdial Consumer Insights

 

-India sees a 30% jump in demand for wedding services

-Tier-I cities witness a 22% rise in demand and Tier-II by 48%

Mumbai, Nov 15: After two years of low-key celebrations due to COVID restrictions, this year’s wedding season sees a rise in demand (YOY) for a wide range of wedding services with searches for banquet halls being up by 83%, caterers by 57%, and wedding jewellers by 44%, reports the latest Justdial Consumer Insights report.

 

Overall demand on Justdial for wedding services, comprising of banquet halls, caterers, decorators, DJs, event organisers, wedding jewellers, tailors, Mehendi artists, pandits, photographers, matrimonial bureaus, and wedding bands, saw a 30% jump across India’s 1000 towns and cities. This demand was primarily accentuated by Tier-II cities that saw a 48% rise in demand, and in Tier-I cities, it was 22%. 

 

Commenting on the consumer trends during this wedding season, Mr. Prasun Kumar, CMO, Justdial said: “We are witnessing a surge in demand during this wedding season as India reportedly will see 32 lakh weddings in a period of next 30 days. The last two years have been difficult for wedding services due to restrictions on marriages due to COVID. Weddings have been a big driver for India’s gig economy, and it is encouraging to witness that demand is rising fast in Tier-II cities. Demand for wedding services in Tier-II cities is now 2X vis-à-vis Tier-I and it augurs well for the economy at large. It also reflects the fact that businesses of all hues even in Tier-II towns and cities are now getting online to maximise their reach and enhance their business.”

 

Amongst wedding services, jewellers, banquet halls, decorators, photographers, and caterers, were the top-5 services that saw maximum demand and contributed to almost 60% of the searches related to wedding services on the platform.  

 

For wedding jewellers, Mumbai topped the demand across the country followed by Delhi and Hyderabad. Searches in Tier-I cities rose by 29%, while Tier-II cities witnessed a jump of 44%. Among Tier-II cities, Jaipur led the demand race followed by Surat, Rajkot, Chandigarh, and Coimbatore.

 

Demand (YOY) rise for banquet halls was the highest across all wedding services as it saw a 68% rise in searches in India. Among Tier-II cities this demand rose by 83%, and in Tier-I cities by 46%. Mumbai topped the searches for banquet halls and contributed to almost 27% of the demand in Tier-I cities followed by Delhi and Chennai in the second and third place respectively. Coimbatore, Surat, Nagpur, Lucknow, and Patna were the top-5 Tier-II cities that saw maximum demand for banquet halls.

 

Searches for decorators jumped by 31% with Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru driving maximum demand among Tier-I cities. The demand in Tier-II cities was up by 43% with cities like Chandigarh, Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Surat driving maximum traction.

 

Demand for wedding photographers rose by 23% in the country with searches in Tier-II cities being 2.3X of that in Tier-I cities. Mumbai and Delhi contributed to almost 50% of the demand generated by Tier-I cities. Chandigarh, Lucknow, Patna, Rajkot, and Coimbatore were the top-5 Tier-II cities with maximum demand for wedding photographers.   

 

Searches for caterers went up by 31% with Tier-II cities outstripping Tier-I cities in terms of demand. Tier-II cities saw the demand going up by 31% and Tier-I cities by 57%. Bengaluru, topping the list, had the highest demand for caterers followed by Mumbai and Delhi among Tier-I cities. Among Tier-II cities Jaipur, Lucknow, Coimbatore, Chandigarh, and Ernakulam were the top-5 with maximum demand for caterers.

From unforgettable deep-sea dining to food trucks serving succulent grills on a starlit beach — these two new COLOURS of OBLU resorts have endless culinary delights on offer. 

Only BLU, the newest restaurant in the Maldives, invites diners on an unforgettable culinary journey beneath the ocean. Launched recently, Only BLU is one of the most sought-after outlets in the destination. Surrounded by exotic blue hues and a colourful flow of marine life, this deep-sea dining experience is a unique way of connecting with nature and with loved ones. 

The restaurant is accessed through a wooden jetty between the two island resorts, OBLU SELECT Lobigili and OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi. As guests descend 6.8 meters below sea level, they pass by an open kitchen showcasing the chefs’ artistry in an inviting display and are welcomed with canapes and sparkling wine. 

There is a distinctly ‘only blue’ vibe with colours, patterns, and textures all chosen to complement the spectacular ocean vistas. A horseshoe-shaped design ensures every table has its own window view of the coral reef. With a 190 sqm dining space and 46 seats, Only BLU is the largest under ocean restaurant in the Maldives.


While the show-stealer is the mesmerising under ocean setting, the Modern Gourmet Cuisine is just as tempting. Dining experience is personalised with a choice of seafood and fish, meat and poultry, or vegetarian fare, all paired with red and white wines and a selection of beers. On-menu are carefully crafted dishes such as,

  • Panko and Sesame Crusted Tofu served with enoki mushroom, scallion, and tossed greens

Craftsmanship

The House of METAXA does not have a Master Distiller, nor a Master Blender. It has a METAXA Master, Constantinos Raptis, who embodies the unique savoir-faire of the House. He is only the fifth METAXA Master since 1888. The wine distillates and Muscat wines are aged separately until Constantinos Raptis decides they are ready to be emulsified in Limousin oak casks. History

Since 1888, the House of METAXA is on a journey to offer a one-of-a-kind amber spirit. Experience the unique taste of Samos Muscat wines, aged wine distillates and Mediterranean botanicals for an intense smoothness. Constantinos Raptis, the METAXA Master, first makes his selection of the Muscat wines from Samos, chosen for their aromatic concentration and intensity. He then chooses the fine wine distillates for their character and elegance. Spyros METAXA built his first distillery in 1888 in Piraeus, the port of Athens. His unique one-of-a-kind amber spirit was soon being exported around the Mediterranean. The House of METAXA is today in the north of Athens. It is here, in the dark of the cellars, that the METAXA Master reveals his unique savoir-faire to honour Spyros METAXA’s legacy.

Sofitel Mumbai BKC, the elegant, luxury hotel in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, will offer a special Navratri Thali at Tusker’s from September 24-October 5, 2022.

Tuskers is the specialty vegetarian restaurant & bar at Sofitel Mumbai BKC. Guests who opt for the delicious Navratri Thali will begin with a refreshing Lassi; followed by starters of Sabudana Vada; and Aloo Tikki. Main Courses include Vrat Ki Kadhi, tempered curd-based curry with fresh coconut; Moongfali Rassedar, peanut and coconut curry; Dahi Arbi, colocassia & curd tempered with curry leaves and cumin; Suran Ki Sabzi, yam cooked with fasting spices; and Sama Ki Khichdi, tempered sama rice cooked with ground peanuts and fresh coconut. The meal will be accompanied by Singhare Ki Poori and Set Curd. Desserts will include Sabudana Kheer; Ratalu Ka Halwa; and Cut Fruits.

The special Navratri Thali at Tusker’s is priced at Rs. 1900 plus taxes per person, for lunch only, and is available from September 24-October 5, 2022.

Café Noir Embraces Classic French Cooking Techniques in its All-New Menu – A Parisian Affair 

As Mumbai prepares to leave behind grey skies and welcome a change of seasons, the city’s favourite all-day café - Cafe Noir, serving French casual cuisine, is ready to kick up its own storm with an all-new menu – A Parisian Affair. The menu highlights classic French flavours, cooking techniques, healthy dishes, and a range of vegan and keto options keeping in mind the palettes of health-conscious customers. 

Keeping high-quality, seasonal produce at the forefront, the new menu transforms locally and internationally-sourced ingredients into classic French dishes, that one may have sampled at a typical French bistro.  Through this menu, one will experience dishes made using signature French techniques such as slow cooking and sous vide, as well as items such as hand-churned ice cream, homemade cheese, freshly baked in-house bread, homemade jams, dips and more. Classically French at heart, the new menu items come with a special Café Noir twist which will leave the diners wanting for more.  A few of the novel additions include vegetarian options such as Za’atar Spiced Broccoli, farm fresh broccoli marinated with zaatar spice, grilled to perfection; Quinoa, Hass Avocado & Orange Salad, mix of white and black quinoa, avocado, hazelnut with yuzu dressing; Red Wine Poached Pear with Smoked Feta Cream, pears poached in wine with smoked feta cream and candied walnuts; and Broccoli & Kale Soup, made with fresh broccoli and kale. Guests can also try non-veg options such as Harissa Chicken & Emmental Crepe with lettuce, caramalised onions and mushrooms; Cheese Melt Lamb Burger, hand-pounded lamb patty, caramalised onions, fried egg and cheese melt; and Textures of Snapper, pan seared red snapper, buttered mushed edamame, potato dauphinoise, snapper croquette and yuzu sauce, a must try on the Mains. Goat Cheese Spinach & Sundried Tomato Quiche, which will be made-to-order; wood-fired Arugula Feta Pizza, margherita topped with arugula, feta drizzle with balsamic reduction; Verte Mock Duck Sub, mock duck, spicy mayo arugula, pickles and cheddar melt, come with a special recommendation from the Chef.
